 At Long Island Wood Pellet Supply Inc,
we stock only premium grade wood pellets. At
Long Island Wood Pellet Supply we purchase in
bulk direct from pellet mills. We carry both
soft and hardwood pellets. All of our pellets are
“premium” wood pellets made from all wood only with no

The pellet fuel industry has developed
fuel standards that must be met by all pellet mills.
Manufactures must conduct in plant and independent
laboratory test of their product on a regular basis.
The Pellet Fuel Institute graded
fuel must meet test for:
- Density: consistent
hardness and energy content. (minimum 40 pounds/per
cubic foot)
- Dimensions: length (1
1/2inch maximum) and diameter (1/4inch X 5 1/16inch)
to assure predictable fuel amounts and prevent
jamming.
- Fines: Limited amount
of sawdust from pellet breakdown to avoid dust while
loading and problems with pellet flow during
operation (amount of fines passing through 1/8 inch
screen no more than .5 percent by weight).
- Chlorides: limited salt
content (No more than 300 parts per million) to
avoid stove and vent rusting.
- Ash Content: Important
factor in maintenance frequency.
Pellet mills produce two grades
of pellets - Premium and Standard.
The difference between the two is
only the ash content. Premium pellets unlike standard
are usually produced from hardwood or soft wood sawdust
containing no tree bark.
